Palm Centro and the Sprint SERO plan !!

Janice at work tipped me on this great plan that sprint has called SERO - Sprint Employee Referral Offer which is originally intended for sprint employees to refer their friends and family to sprint. Sometime last year they opened it up to the public. Google Sprint SERO and look for the threads on the slickdeals.net and fatwallet.com forum for details. I'll give the highlights here: for $30 a month, I get 500 anytime minutes, nights and weekend starting at 7PM, mobile to mobile (sprint only) free, unlimited text messages, unlimited picture mail messages, and this was the deal clincher for me, unlimited data which includes some sprint TV channels. There are some codes floating around where you also get $50 in credits on your bill.

Linda needed a new PDA so i talked her into getting the centro too (she got the red one).

I got the new palm centro for $99 before the $50 service credit. So for $49, this smartphone is a great upgrade from the Treo 650 I've been using for the past 2.5 years. Also, have the unlimited data really lets me use all of the smartphone - i can get my roadrunner and gmail emails, I can do mobile blog updates and I can even watch the NFL network on the phone!

Nike + Ipod

Vinh's raving about the Nike + Ipod kit convinced me to get one too. I used the 30% off at Champs coupon when I was visiting my bro in Dallas. Ended up getting the kit for $20! Since I have not done much running, I decided to try the kit out when I was cutting the grass on Sunday to track the distance traveled: I traveled 1.2 miles in 55 minutes of mowing. :-)

Return of TiVo

Woohoo !! TiVo is back in the house. We left TiVo to get HD DVR capability from the cable company (via the Scientific Atlanta HD-8300 box). Although we eventually adapted the the cable company dvr, it was no TiVo. Now with the Series 3 TiVo box, we get the TiVo interface and capatibility with the cable feed via cablecards. Instead of getting a wireless adapter, I ran ethernet to the location and have the TiVo box connected directly to the broadband router.

The t-Phone

$600 is a bit too much for me to spend on an iPhone unlike some people ... not jealous :-)

So instead of fretting, I made my own tPhone device. It has all the features of the iPhone and then some extra:

Ipod music player: Check
Phone: Check
2 MP digital camera: Check
Touchscreen: well, one of the three screens is ... so Check

So there you have it: the tPhone does everything the iPhone does and it comes in a handy, larger size so it makes it harder to lose. If there is interest, I can post instructions on how to make your own tPhone with spare gadgets you have around the house.
